I have been waiting years for some new material from Vampire Weekend. I was way back in 2010 that they released their sophomore album Contra.
The new record called Modern Vampires of the City is due out on May 6, 2013. If this first track is any indication, the Brooklyn band has done a lot of maturing over the past three years. This is not to say that I have stopped loving the quirks of A-Punk and Oxford Comma, but that their influences have changed. Is that Elvis that I hear in Diane Young? Perhaps The Strokes? Could it be The Hives? This song is a fresh take on their talents. It doesn’t matter who the new influences are, I love this song and I will be first in line to pick up the new album when it is released.
